Meet Josh Jones
After being seriously injured in a mining accident in 2015 that claimed the life of his work mate, Stephen Cave, Josh has gone to hell and back in order to recover physically and mentally. In 2019 Josh attende the Miners Memorial Day in Moura, the town in which he was based in 2015. It was during this visit where Josh made the conscious decision that he needed to use the lessons from the accident and the story of his journey to recovery in order to help shift the safety mindset of the workforce.
We can't continue with our same old ways, too many miners are exposed to unnecessary risk and too many miners and their families are facing the devastation of serious workplace injuries and fatalities
FROM TRAGEDY TO TRIUMPH
After the accident, I thought the days of being active in sport were over. That was until I discovered golf. In the first year of recovery I started hitting balls at the driving range as a form of therapy. That soon evolved into a passion and addiction to the sport.
Golf gave me a distraction, a distraction from the negative thoughts that were constantly creeping into my mind. It opened a new chapter in my life and helped me shift towards a more positive mindset. I now travel the country competing at a high level in disability golf and in 2022 was ranked inside the world top 100 of golfers with a disability. Hosting a corporate golf day? I can combine my abilities on the course with a presentation package to give your team a day they won’t forget
